Being self employed is definitely as amazing as I always imaged it! You are your own boss, you take care of your own schedule, you can definitely say no, you are in charge of your business and your destiny. All of these and more things are absolutely amazing about working for yourself and while I do not want to complain or be negative in any way - rather I want to share my experience as a lesson I have learned. I love working: early in the morning, late night in bed, on a plane, while in an Uber on my way to the next event - so pretty much anywhere, any time. And after doing that for almost a year I started noticing a lack of ideas, general annoyance with simple things and an overall feeling of not being so happy. I tried to figure out how these feelings came about because I am doing what I always dreamed of, but still I am not feeling that happy!

After some time, I it became more and more obvious to me that I am always working and not really giving myself a break from my job! You may think, well your job is not really a hard job, but I have to stop you here. Being creative and coming up with ideas and concepts is definitely time consuming, tiring and IT IS WORK, even going to events does not mean I get to drink champagne and take videos (although I do that too) - it is about networking, being "on" and showing you guys the newest innovations! What about the behind the scenes, like creating content calendars, video editing, photography, accounting and so on.. Anyway, I noticed I was doing my job seven days a week without noticing it, and I guess this is what happens when you do what you love! But eventually you get tired and your brain needs to rest. Exactly my case!
I want to share a few things to help get you away from your work (even if you love it!)
1 | Take the weekend off
2 | Schedule in dates with friends on the weekend so you don't have an excuse
3 | Ask your partner to plan a fun date and explore your city
4 | Meditate and learn how to slow down
5 | Take up yoga or another exercise to have time to yourself
6 | Work hard during the week so you can take time off
7 | Plan and be organized so you don't feel like your work is suffering on your days off
I wanted to share these tips with you because I feel as young entrepreneurs we often do not realize that we need to stop and smell the flowers, enjoy life a little because time is one thing you cannot get back. Your health is more important, your relationships are more important, and YOU ARE MORE IMPORTANT!
