DESIGN STORY ONE | MILITARY
DESIGN STORY TWO | Ground Force
DESIGN STORY THREE | Leaders
DESIGN STORY FOUR | Tech
While most of us know BOY London because of its heavily branded and somewhat cheeky T’s and jackets, the designer used the celebration of Britain’s 40 Years of Punk as an opportunity to push the brand further and create more elevated streetwear. The concept behind BOY By Boy is that with technology and social media it is so easy to be in the public eye and be watched by those around us. With the pieces in this collection and the types of fabrics used, the wearer is being protected from such “privacy violations and unwanted exposure of identify”. Four separate design stories were showcased in the impressive venue along London’s north bank: Ground Force, Military, Tech and Leaders. Believe it or not, BOY By Boy featured integrated fabric technology such as drone blocking linings, RF blocking fabrics and the use of code as print on the fabrics – a huge WOW and truly beautiful to see in real life. With all of us using social media, the thought of your life as a public gallery is almost undeniable, but we rarely worry about those implications. Creating garments out of fabrics that block these invasions of privacy AND are also incredibly fashionable and avant garde? Genius!
