#MonDoxistBebe
Our Bebe is ONE!! We cannot believe how fast this year has flown by, with many UPS and undeniebly some DOWNS.... we are glad we made it! After long deliberations about what the theme for Avia's birthday should be, we ultimately decided that the theme should be our wish for our little girl: DREAM BIG, LITTLE ONE.
We wish for Avia to have great ambition, feel unstoppable, and think beyond the ordinary lines we often get boxed into (of course amongst other things like happiness, health, love, laughter!!). So in celebration of our little girl turning ONE, we gathered our friends and families - and despite covid restrictions we made it a beautiful party.
Handmade Decor
We wanted the space to feel dreamy and came up with the stars and moon shapes - all handmade cardboard cut outs covered in fabric - some stuff so they looked more 3D. "Clouds" (which was actually stuffing from pillows) lined the enter of the guest table to represent clouds. Everything was kept in a peachy/orange colour.
The focal point is the backdrop - custom made by Photowall Sweden which Jeremiah designed but they have amazing wallpapers on their website which could easily be used as a backdrop. We loved the idea because first it can be used as a backdrop, and later on it can be used as a wallpaper in your home! Designing these parties definitely call for some creativity as you can see!
** Photowall Sweden generously provided the wall paper
Custom Cake
We are so so fortunate that my mom is an amazing baker. Whatever ideas we have for cakes, cupcakes etc she goes above and beyond to make it happen. We decided on a peach coloured cake that was "humming bird flavour" which is absolutely delicious!
Additionally we made custom grace boxes for our guests which was the absolute perfect way to be "Covid-friendly" which had a cupcake, indian sweets, cookies, pretzels, popcorn and flowers. Because we needed to feed a crowd we also offered savoury items which was buffet style - not so covid friendly but our guests LOVED IT!!!
THE GAMES & FUN
A few fun games never hurt to engaged the guests:
1. Wish Balloon: we pre-made little papers with ribbon attached and asked our guests to make a wish either for themselves or for Avia. We tied all the wishes to the balloon.
2. Party Hat decorating : we supplied white party hat (we actually made them ourselves) as well as different items to decorate them with. The best party hat was chosen by the crowd and the winner received a gift basket! Super fun and very engageing!
A Year of Avia Ocean
One of my favourite way to show case the year long journey was the "Year of Avia Ocean board" which I re-used the wooden signs for each month. Each picture was so sweet and all the guests truly loved looking at the development and changes of Avia over the year. It added a great piece of decoration to the party and also is a great keepsake!
We truly loved how the celebration turned out. A big party like this is always nerve wracking and the preparation stressful. A first birthday is so so special and with Covid many friends haven't seen Avia that much. This is technically the reason we wanted to celebrate BIG! The following birthdays will be cute and sweet, and definitely smaller! Have fun planning for your little one's birthday!!
