The food we ate in Bangkok was among the best I've ever had, so I knew I had to share some highlight with you. Here is just four of my top recommendations:
the never ending summer
For everyone who has fallen in love with Thai food as much as I have, I highly recommended lunch spot would be “Never Ending Summer”. It is a hip restaurant by the famous Thai architect Duangrit Bunnag of DBALP with the freshest ingredients. This is great for a party (if you are with a group) or a great casual lunch as the interior is absolutely stunning of course. The restaurant is a dream come true for the architect and a welcome addition to the Bangkok food scene. The Pad Thai and Green curry are to die for and the salad sampler plate is a highlight for the eyes and the palette.
P.S. This is a great spot for photos or a special occasion as the restaurant is very open, and a lot of light comes in!
saawaan
Talking about outstanding food, for all the foodies out there, Thailand has over 20 Michelin star restaurants and we had the pleasure of visiting Saawaan in Bangkok. The newly named Micheline Star restaurant features an authentic Thai tasting menu of 10 courses (plus some extra chef specials) and it was just out of this world. Some items are prepared right at the table; each course with so much flavour and attention to detail in its presentation. Saawaan also offers a tea pairing which is amazing and will leave you beyond satisfied. The price, when converted, is only around $80 CAD, which is absolutely unbeatable for the service, the cuisine, and the experience.
the st. regis bangkok
The many cuisine offerings at the St. Regis Bangkok are simply as exquisite as the overall hotel and service. Whether it is the impressive breakfast buffet, the many on-site restaurants (including a Sky Bar, an Italian restaurant, and of course, classic Thai food) or even the breakfast boxes we had when leaving the hotel at 6:00 am to catch a flight, the taste and quality of each bite were amazing.
iconsiam foodhall
If you are looking for a bit more adventurous and low key dining experience I would suggest the new ICONSIAM Shopping Mall. The most luxurious mall in Thailand (with endless shopping opportunities for every budget and shopper from Fendi to H&M) features an enormous food hall filled with cuisines and shops from all of the different areas of Thailand. Never did I imagine that it could be so versatile and exciting, but seeing the freshly cooked dishes just made my mouth water. Part of the market features floating vendors, imitating the floating market which are all so popular in Bangkok. This is a great way to discover how different the dishes and ingredients from the various Thai regions are, and it is a popular spot for locals too!
