Miao Ran received the support of Giorgio Armani, who invited him to showcase his latest Spring/Summer 20S17 Runway Collection at the grand Armani Theater during Milano Moda Uomo. We think that that itself is a great honour and privilege, which only further shows the extent of creativity and talent that Miao Ran brings with him. My favourite collection so far, Miao Ran exceeded all expectations with his simplicity of colours and complexity in shapes. His own description of his design style:
Uncompromised style.
Genderless esthetic.
Minimal tailored precision.
And it could not be put in better words. A truly unisex collection with oversized everything, pieces that could be pants or skirts – worn by male and female models. There were moments during the show that we turned to each other and wondered if the model was a man or a woman, and that itself is amazing. Tunics and dresses were so oversized and interestingly shaped that it was difficult to specify gender. Layers and layers of the same fabric and colour created an incredibly futuristic feel. A very subtle colour palette of white, grey, blue, blush and an interesting mustard-y green go along with the simplicity of the collection. To me, this is the future of fashion. A truly genderless aesthetic in a minimal collection. Just WOW – see for yourself!
