F rom the runways of New York Fashion Week, straight into our repertoire.. here is a round up of the most stand out trends spotted for SS19, and maybe even some that are already trending. How much newness can there really be? I am finding that trends a more long-lived - a lot of trends are already popular right now and will continue to be trending until at least Spring/Summer 2019. This is a great indicator of where to spend your money, if you ask me. Fact is, sneakers, vinyl, suiting and ruffles are not about to go anywhere!
Oversized Silouettes
Wide leg pants, oversized sweaters and jackets and really anything one or two sizes too big - thats really where its at! I am seeing the oversized look on its own or combined with a body hugging piece. Really anything is possible, as long as it looks effortless.
SNEAKERS
ANY type of sneakers are TRENDING! Ugly, slim, shapeless ... comfort is key and when comfort and fashion collide a lot of us are over the roof happy (including me!). Sneakers are really combined with anything and everything from ruffle dresses, sequin gowns, suits and shorts. Its a literal go-to footwear trend.
RUFFLES
Yet again, ruffles are not going anywhere! The bigger, the better and the more exaggerated the better! Any colour goes, as long as there is a lot of volume and ruffle-action.
VINYL DETAILING
Currently we see a lot of vinyl for accessories and especially bags, but for SS19 this trend is moving more into clothing as well. Trench coats, jackets and corsets in solid vinyl or in vinyl overlay - it just has to look as plastic-y as possible. It is not just clear but really any colour goes, some with a print or sparkles.
JUST DO YOU
As much as I love watching trends, and key pieces that are in for each season, I truly believe that you should always stay true to your own style. Developing your own personal style is a process and an ever changing task. I personally love experimenting with key trends in my own way, and definitely do not aim to look like everyone else. This is what fashion is all about for me, individuality and having fun and being adventures.
