If you are looking for a special dining experience that also serves up some seriously delicious authentic flavours, you are right at Al Ain at the Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech. As we were warned many times before our trip about the street food and food at some local shops, we wanted to make it a point to experience authentic moroccan cuisine, without the worries. Al Ain was a perfect choice and ended up being one of the most memorable evenings from the entire trip. The restaurant has received many awards - for a good reason!
The luxe dinging experience, authentic aromas and moroccan style entertainment will makes this an unforgettable experience for all your senses.
The meals started off with a selection of house made breads and oil, which seems to belong to every moroccan meal. Just like all the baking at the Fairmont. My favourite was the lemon bread, just the right amount of tang with the crusty roll. An amuse bouche consisted of a pumpkin soup, which was light but rich in flavours, in a bright orange colour. While we enjoyed the meal live music was being played which set a most perfect tone for a real moroccan dining experience.
We ordering the Moroccan salad, which is a selection of cold salads so mouthwatering and satisfying, it could have been my entire meal. Along with the salad we tried the seafood pastilla, a filo filler pastry with prawns, calamari and cod fish. The presentation of both dished was absolutely superb.
For the main course we ordered the mixed grill, which is a selection of grilled meats of minced meat (formed into a kebab), liver, chicken and lamb; served with an oriental rice. Everything was amazing and not overly heavy. The tagine (a must try, as it is a traditional dish) was served up in the clay tagine dish and poured onto the plate right at the table. The aromas were mesmerizing and we just could not get enough of it. We finished every last bite!
To finish off this amazing meal we opted for a light yogurt foam with rose, the Royal Coupe Palm. It was beyond perfect with light notes of rose, just beautiful. The evening concluded with a little dance (you may have seen on my Instagram stories, or you can check my Instagram highlight for it) as it was someone's birthday and the staff made sure to make it special. We danced to moroccan music and got a tiny belly dance lesson. Al Ain is a highly recommended experience while in Morocco!
