MY YOGA JOURNEY
the enlightening path towards namaste
A few years ago, while I was hooked on group work-out classes that included blasting music, high-intensity cardio, and light weights, I discovered the ancient practice of yoga. After my initial free two weeks trial in my first studio, I was completely addicted. The hot yoga benefits are amazing and while, of course, every kind of workout has its benefits, I was amazed at what yoga actually did to my body and also to my mind. So today I am sharing with you the top five benefits that I have enjoyed by pursuing a constant yoga practice.
one / slow down your mind
We are bombarded with countless impressions every day and sometimes it can be difficult to relax. Most of us don’t even know how to just be anymore because whenever we are “not busy” we grab our phone and scroll along on Facebook or Instagram. Yoga taught me to sit in meditation – to slow down and listen to my breathing. This is something I am constantly trying to work on, but making a conscious effort is the first step.
two / can be done anywhere
Either at a studio, at home or while travelling – Yoga is always possible if the will power is there! Here is a great YouTube Account that I have used whenever I can’t make it to a class. It has easy to follow and precise videos targeting different areas like core, abs, cardio, etc.
three / lean muscle mass
Which the right eating habits (clean and raw food!), yoga will slowly transform your body. Keep pushing yourself even if you feel like you can’t do it! It’s worth it! Consistency is key.
four / overall well-being
The combination of being more flexible and strong – plus drinking more water and looking forward to the next time on the mat. Yoga is not just a workout for me, it has become a lifestyle and many practices can be incorporated into your everyday life.
five / improved skin radiance
Especially for hot yoga, which is my favorite, the circulation and detoxing process makes for absolutely amazing glowing skin! Drinking lots of water is key in this process.
Do you practice yoga? If so, what benefits have you found from it? If not, give it a try and let me know what you think!
