Winnipeg,
Manitoba
After our epic adventure of driving on ice with Mercedes-Benz in Gimli, Manitoba, we decided it was time to visit and explore Manitoba’s capital, Winnipeg. We have been on a mission to explore our own country more and experience all facets of Canadian living.
Take three days, some walking shoes and a good appetite to explore Winnipeg, and get a glimpse of the Manitoban way of life.

Dinner at Velvet Glove
The Velvet Glove is a well known fine dining restaurant in Winnipeg with a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. The food is prepared by Chef .... and each meal is traditionally started with warm homemade buns with clotted cream which are to die for. Followed by delicious appetizers and an impressive cocktail offering the meal could not be off to a better start. Favourites of the meal included the ravioli, chicken and Brussels sprouts.
Ending off the meal and evening with the sticky toffee pudding is a grand idea which will leave you wanting more.

NATIONAL MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
Our visit to this museum was filled with lots of emotions. Stories from people around the world are exhibited in engaging ways that encourage conversations about a topic that is uncomfortable. I highly recommend a guided tour to get the most out of the visit. Be prepared to be touched by the many different stories and pieces of history of Canada and around the world.
The museum itself is a piece of art, beautiful architecture invites the guests to spend an entire day!
- where to lunch -
THE FORKS MARKET
The Forks is located walking distance from the Canadian Museum of Human Rights and therefore makes the perfect lunch spot. The historic building houses various food vendors which serve anything from wood fire pizza, healthy burgers, sushi, even beer and wine flights and freshly made doughnuts. Inside Forks markets the locals seem to gather over meal times and we even witnessed a flash mob choir with truly touched my hearts. Attached to the market is an ice rink, skate rental available right at The Forks.
- where to dine -
SEGOVIA
This small tapas restaurant is well known in the buzzling Winnipeg food scene. Small plates and a wide range of wine and spirits make this the ideal spot for date nights, nights with friends of small and big groups. Each and every item we tried was absolutely delicious with unique flavours and beautiful presentation. The atmosphere is cozy and chic.
Tip: Be sure to come early to avoid lines, 5:30PM is the ideal time to grab a table.

VELVET GLOVE
Although there are many, many dining options, we did not want to miss out on the Brunch at Velvet Glove. Busy mornings at the restaurant are proof that this is a must visit spot. The menu definitely has an option for everyone from savoury- to sweet-lovers. The Ceasar bar cart is a fun experience where you order a cocktail table side and pick your own garnish. The chef prepared pumpkin pancakes and chicken was a delicious choice to start the day!
Tip: Wake up with a "Rise and Shine" cocktail!
- where to relax -
THERMEA SPA
This spot is a must-visit and the perfect way to spend a day of relaxation. The hot-cold-chill cycle has mayor health benefits so it is not only a great way to relax but also a real perk to boost your immune system among other great benefits. There are three pools of different temperatures, dry and steam saunas and relaxation areas for the ultimate experience.
Enjoy this and more in Winnipeg!
