The highly anticipated World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto, Canada was five days filled with talent, style and amazing people. Sponsored by the Ritz Carlton Toronto, Joe Fresh, Redken, Krugs and many other renowned names in the business industry, the entire event was outstanding and made us proud to be Canadian.
Both the emerging and the established designers wow’d us with their pieces – each showcase was uniquely different and special in its own way. Heavy hitter Canadian brands like Mackage, Hilary MacMillan, Stephan Caras and Mikael D showcased alongside newcomers like Triarchy, 3.Paradis, and KANIA. One of our favourites was Hilary MacMillan, who showcased a collection which highlighted a feminine yet edgy demeanour. Hilary used lots of fine silk and supple leather, accented with the subtle fur detail to present this outstanding collection of crop tops, culottes and body-hugging evening pieces. MacMillan sent her models down the runway with hair in a “wet-look” and round-circle sunglasses. The presentation was accompanied by a live performance by the Toronto based band “St. Royals”, which made this presentation a highlight of #WMCFW for me – the song “Elastic Heart” is still stuck in my head!
The street street was incredible and the attendees of #WMCFW killed it every single day! We had the opportunity to meet and mingle with many talented bloggers, stylists and social media mavens, who came dressed impeccably and showcased their passion for style every single day – rain or shine! Outside the tends was an army of street style photographers and magazines photogs, including Flare, Huffington Post, MTV.ca, Toronto Life, BlogTo, etc., who captured the best, most turnt-out #OOTDs during Fashion Week.
Although the week was jam-packed and full of pre-show events and after-parties, we had an amazing time and are already planning our return to the fashion capital of Canada.
